“The About page is the hardest page to write.

And you’re never going to be happy with it.”

And so begins every conversation I have with website copywriting clients.

It’s perhaps not the sexiest intro—but when in doubt, it’s best to start with the truth.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when it comes to talking about yourself—and all the details that make your company, your services, and your employees special.

There’s always a risk that there simply isn’t a word for what you do and how you make people feel.

Not a simple word, anyway.

And it’s a lot of pressure to write The Best About Page Ever when the spotlight makes you sweat.

Especially when you write About pages for a living.

The good news? This page really isn’t about me. Or you, for that matter.

It’s about us.

You and me and The Hungry Typewriter team.

And all the things that we could potentially create together.

Granted, it might matter to you that my family tree is full of some of the most tenacious, hard-working, and productive small business owners on the planet. Farmers. Carpenters. Entrepreneurs. When most parents would consider taking a big trip after their last child left the nest, my mom opened a home decor shop—her very first business.

And the apple doesn’t fall far.

I learned from a very young age that hard work—the right kind—is essential to success. I learned that good tools, good people, and good music in the background can get more done in a morning than most of the world can check off in a week. That it’s a lot easier to fix an engine when you know what to listen for. That sometimes getting into the weeds is necessary. So is a cold beer after a hot harvest.

And what does any of this have to do with copywriting?

Nothing and everything. But when you need…

  • a headline that snaps you to attention like your parent shouting your full name across the yard,

  • a way to focus your core branding so that it brings the best people together,

  • a strong rhythm to your voice and a cadence to your sales funnel that feels natural and familiar, wherever the world hears it,

  • an inspiring way to get your team to love doing the little things,

  • an experienced perspective and another set of hands at the keyboard,

…I’ll be the first one in line to dig and and help you create a business and a brand we (all) can believe in.

Because there’s nothing quite like working with people who love what they do.

We’ve all experienced that magic—a customer service rep who is human and helpful, the hair stylist that welcomes each client with a clear plan and a twinkle in their eye, the business owner who isn’t afraid to push back or step forward when the quality of work is compromised.

It’s a lot easier to harness that feeling when you are absolutely clear about who you are, who you serve, and what the heck you’re doing. And, most importantly, why you are doing it in the first place.

It’s also easier when you don’t have so many other things to do.

The truth is that while there may be a lot to love about your business, it’s a hard thing to put in writing. And there comes a time when you know you’re not the best person to do it.

You often have a rough idea—but it’s not organized or put to paper.

You know what works and why it’s important, but your team is confused.

Your current clients love you, but not for the reasons you’d expect.

You’re desperate to get the word out about your business, but you aren’t sure what those words are.

And that’s where we come in.

Imagine the impact

when our creative, innovative, and talented forces collide.

Our easy intro calls are a no-obligation, all-good, fast-and-fantastic chemistry experiments. We’ll use the time to get to know each other and how we like to work, find out if we're a fit, and determine some potential options.

And if it doesn’t work out, we’ll both come away with a new connection in our small business ecosystem—and that’s always a good thing!
